Jobs and the Economy

Increasing the minimum wage has served only to put more of our youth out of work, leaving them with little to do and the temptation to turn to crime. Rent control has resulted in a housing affordability gap that forces poor families to remain in crowded, unsafe neighborhoods, and unable to experience the American dream of upward mobility. New regulations continue to overburden startup and small businesses, to the point that they are out of business before they start. Our community needs to provide a nurturing environment that encourages businesses to grow, puts our young people to work, and allows everyone to thrive.

I support actions that:

  • reduce burdensome regulation on businesses,
  • encourage local unions and charities to develop work programs, and
  • offer alternative opportunities to our youth so they are set up for success.
